Your front door and sidelight windows are the first thing visitors see — and the first place uninvited eyes can look into your home. Window film lets you add privacy and curb appeal to these glass panels without blocking light, removing the glass, or installing permanent coverings that hide your door's design.
Why Window Film Works So Well on Sidelights
Sidelight windows are notoriously difficult to cover with traditional window treatments. They're narrow, tall, and often flanking an elaborate door design that you don't want to hide. Blinds and curtains look out of place, collect dust, and have to be manually adjusted. Window film covers just the glass — cleanly, invisibly from the outside, and permanently if you want.
The right sidelight film maintains your door's visual appeal from the street while making the interior invisible from outside. Many of our designs — like leaded glass, etched patterns, and stained glass — actually add decorative value to a plain sidelight, making it look like expensive custom glass at a fraction of the price.
Standard Sidelight Sizes
Most residential sidelights fit one of two standard sizes: 7.75" x 78" (narrow) or 11.75" x 78" (wider). We carry films specifically sized for these dimensions so you don't have to cut unless you want to. If your sidelight is a non-standard size, most rolls can be trimmed to fit with scissors or a utility knife.
Best Window Film Styles for Front Doors and Sidelights
- Leaded glass designs (like Allure and Orleans) mimic the look of traditional leaded glass windows — elegant and timeless
- Stained glass films add color and character, popular for craftsman, Victorian, and traditional home styles
- Frosted film is the cleanest, most minimal option — total privacy with a modern etched-glass appearance
- Etched patterns offer decorative detail with varying levels of privacy depending on the design
How to Choose Your Privacy Level
All films in our sidelight collection reduce visibility to some degree, but the level varies. Fully frosted films block all visibility in both directions. Decorative and patterned films may allow silhouettes or movement to be visible, especially at night. If full privacy is important, choose a film labeled "privacy" rather than "see-through" or "decorative."
