Does window film work at night?
It depends on the type of film. Frosted window film provides privacy 24 hours a day regardless of lighting conditions — it's the best choice for bathrooms and any space where nighttime privacy matters. One-way mirror film works during the day when outside is brighter than inside, but at night the effect reverses when interior lights are on. What is the difference between static cling and adhesive window film?
Static cling film holds to glass using only water and electrostatic attraction — no adhesive, no residue. It's removable, repositionable, and ideal for renters or anyone who wants flexibility. Adhesive film bonds directly to the glass using a pressure-sensitive adhesive for a more permanent installation. It handles humidity and moisture better, making it the better choice for shower glass and steamy bathrooms.
Can window film be applied to any window?
Window film requires a smooth, clean glass surface. It works on most standard windows, sliding glass doors, shower enclosures, sidelights, and cabinet glass. It is not recommended for textured, frosted, or coated glass surfaces, as the film won't adhere evenly.
How do I measure my window for film?
Measure the glass itself — not the frame. Measure both width and height, and order a film size that is equal to or slightly larger than your glass. How long does window film last?
Static cling film typically lasts several years with proper care. Adhesive film can last 10 years or more depending on sun exposure and cleaning habits. Avoid abrasive cleaners and scrubbers on the film surface, and clean gently with a soft cloth.
How do I apply window film?
Clean the glass thoroughly, cut the film slightly larger than the glass, spray the glass with water (for static cling), apply the film, and use a squeegee to smooth out air and water from center to edge.
